SHIB & OSCAR IP – An Open Letter to the Community Holding the exclusive intellectual property license for the SHIB brand and logo is not a trophy, nor is it any form of centralization. Quite the opposite — it exists to prevent exactly that, as outlined in Ryoshi’s whitepaper from day one. To be clear: the SHIB ERC20 / OSCAR ERC20 tokens will always remain fully decentralized. No one can control the blockchain. However, the brand must be protected and preserved. With the support of the SHIB Army and the OSCAR Army, we have successfully fought against numerous scams, preventing bad actors from exploiting the SHIB community for personal gain. This also includes companies that attempted to appropriate our symbols and history. Had we not intervened, the situation could have escalated to the point where SHIB accounts or builders might have been forced to pay royalties to them — that was the direction things were heading. There were even risks of coordinated attempts to take down SHIB-related social media accounts. If you think this sounds exaggerated, do your own research. At the same time, we have worked to preserve the brand and honor the hard work of honest contributors and holders across both ecosystems. We have always had the support of legitimate members within the SHIB community, as well as the OSCAR community — which played a crucial role by financially supporting this initiative alongside Paradox, the original creator of the SHIB logo. And this is only the beginning. Many more measures and advancements will continue to expand globally. This also opens the path for the creation and offering of officially licensed physical and digital products and services under the SHIB and OSCAR brands and their respective community, while also providing the necessary legal support for teams and any builders who require more specific use of the IP. We recognize that intellectual property rights are essential in Web3, especially in a space unfortunately filled with scams and bad actors. Holding the exclusive IP license for SHIB is more than an achievement — it is a responsibility. A responsibility to preserve decentralization and Ryoshi’s vision, to ensure the original creator Paradox Designer is properly recognized and supported, and to carry the SHIB and OSCAR brands forward with integrity and care. Protecting and honoring this brand means safeguarding its intellectual property and the communities behind it. We will actively preserve SHIB’s legacy and our own verifiable history, combating misuse and violations wherever they occur. We are fully prepared to take all necessary legal actions to defend the rights of SHIB and OSCAR, and to protect these communities from those driven purely by self-interest who falsely claim ownership over what belongs to the community. And to you, the small fisherman in your hometown — creating art, selling a few shirts or mugs, and helping spread the SHIB and OSCAR brands across the world — don’t worry. This is not who we are concerned about. The key is balance: everyone can benefit, but never forget to give back to the community if you find success. But if you believe you can exploit our intellectual property and our community, engage in shady commercial deals driven purely by self-interest, seek personal profit without giving anything back, and hide behind legal loopholes — be warned. We will act. And we will do so through the proper legal channels, with full legitimacy. You will be held accountable. The time of operating in the shadows is over. As clearly outlined by Ryoshi in the whitepaper, this principle has always been part of the vision. And all true supporters of SHIB and OSCAR understand that this is the right path forward.

Oscar was not only the first Shiba Inu to go viral on the internet — helping pave the way for what would later directly boost the Kabosu meme (Dogecoin) in 2013 — but also the first Shiba meme ever directly associated with the word “Doge” as early as 2011.
