@nappasan I also get a similar impression (besides not being too able to tell stuff apart), and I'm not even from the region at all.
This is despite recognizing just how ancient and pre-eminent the Chinese civilization is.
English

I have no intention to sound sinophobic, but I can’t deny to my Japanese ears Mandarin Chinese can sound a little… harsh? It has a lot of fricative consonants that stand out loudly. I find the sound of Cantonese more pleasant, but it’s merely my preference anyway.
Adelheid@adelheidx333
This is only because Chinese language is so unpleasant to listen to compared to Japanese
English

@seiyuucorner must be something when Seiyuu corner has to put multiple mecha roles for a actor
English

@Genesic_Zero Well actually it's also the Western TF fans to blame.
English

Why so many people say Transformers is not Mecha?
An unnecessarily long thread
🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵
(Short answer, its all Eva and Gundam fans fault)

Genesic 🇻🇪 Tamamo Crossmaxxing@Genesic_Zero
One like and i'll make a long ass definitive answer thread about why this happend
English

@Kay_Eivan @180223 The director for that was Toshifumi Kawase actually.
English

@180223 he created the eldran series too? holeee... mad respect
English

@Omega0ZXA @MD_Chaos4 They kept on bringing up the Calamity War throughout the series but there wasn't any point since they weren't ever going to do anything more with it than have it as a historical backdrop for the series.
English

@MD_Chaos4 The beam resistance was to explain why beam weapons were phased out entirely that they’re not effective combat weapons. I guess more expansion on the Calamity war could better show that but I think Hashmal explains most if not all the quirks in MS combat
English

@Novus_Prime1 Honestly if I knew better I would have translated that to "The Courageous ones"
English

@Skyelbarjo @ChrisQ0602 @Gravantus …that's as good as not having one though, Kishimoto didn't make it when he had the chance
English

What time period is Naruto supposed to be set in?
I thought it was "ninja era Japan," but then they had security cameras and VHS tapes during the Chunin Exams and now I'm learning there are literal heat-seeking missiles.
We're at least in the 1990s right?
ƬƠBI𝖱𝖠𝖬𝖠@Tobirama0_0
Kamui gotta be one of the most broken abilities in animanga, ts was peak
English

@Gravantus More pertinent is its lack of an in-series timeline for how historically dense it is (even DB did better).
English

@Mr_Zilla1 Funny how the synth on the right and left are in the same register
English

I've convinced multiple people who were adamant about watching DBZ dubbed that they were wrong with this scene alone.
Although if they prefer the Faulconer score, they're too far gone.

@TheToriverseTTV @MechaGirlOTD @CaudilloNuclear For sure, Toriyama's writing in the same period has nothing on that (for obvious reasons).
English

@MechaGirlOTD @CaudilloNuclear The fact she isn’t strong enough is more impressive. Anyone can fight frieza as a super saiyan. Try fighting endlessly respawning army of him and other super villains the same year you fight broly, ect. Movies did her justice all things considered.
GIF
English

@bweezybird @MechaGirlOTD @CaudilloNuclear The Toei movies don't follow from this point in the anime, with the exception of Movie 11.
Her appearances in 10, 12, and 13 all featured her out on the field in some capacity, contrary to what the post-Spopovich situation laid out in Toriyama's work.
English

@MechaGirlOTD @CaudilloNuclear Chill. The point is after videl got her shit kicked in she stayed home and eventually became a mom
English

@Tharizdun03 @nappasan Movie 13 even featured the Saiyaman Mk-II stint that got copied over to the anime.
English

One is a part of the original creation and the other is a movie written by someone else (who’s known to be a right wing cult follower.)
Nuclear Caudillo🇺🇸🇩🇴@CaudilloNuclear
We don't talk about this enough
English

@eb0nylover9000 @nappasan @DuongH40120 Although she had some action even in Movie 13 (which is where her Saiyaman Mk-II stint came from).
English

@nappasan @DuongH40120 I'll watch his movies looking out for this stuff. Chi-Chi is probably neutered in his movies.
English

@DuongH40120 @nappasan With the irony being that the 90's Toei movies he helmed had a lot more place for action whenever Videl was featured than Toriyama did after Spopovich.
English

@nappasan Well, it seemed to reflect on his work too. With rigged womens results scandal in Japan many years ago, it didn’t seem strange to me. But the creator didn’t treat her any better. Ironically, FR ended up showing a clearer vision of Videl Super’s character years earlier didn't it
English

@nappasan …..…would that be the right aapproximation of how that would be said or is it too wordy?
English

These have less to do with racism and more to do with their aggressive attitude towards those who don’t hesitate to cause inconvenience to others in public. They’re like, “don’t get carried away you main character syndrome idiot.” They’d do the same to Japanese kids to be honest.
K.L@kinglinzhuhui
🇯🇵Racism in Japan is severe. This time, a Korean tourist child was maliciously rammed.
English

One of the most obscure leitmotifs in the series that probably went unnoticed for most viewers would be the one written for Kami in DBZ Movie 1.
ΝΑΠΠΑ@nappasan
They struggled to give Goku a definitive leitmotif because it was first the melody of Makafushigi Adventure, but it ceased to be the opening theme. Kikuchi continued to use Makafushigi until DBZ Movie 2, and then kept giving him multiple different leitmotifs since Movie 3.
