This is something the #SFGiants need to consider at some point with two 1B/DH types on the roster. If this is going to work long term, the Giants need some flexibility here, even if it just 1-2 starts a week in the outfield for Eldridge.

Bryce Eldridge took fly balls in left field today. Tony Vitello wants him to get work out there just in case, which makes sense given the likely makeup of the roster with both Eldridge and Rafael Devers at 1B/DH. Eldridge played some OF in minors after getting drafted.

How hard is catching? There are 137 qualified seasons for catchers, ever (503 ABs). This is just catching, no other ABs count. Simply qualifying for a batting title at C is a historic event! sports-reference.com/stathead/tiny/… For comparison, 1st base has 1054. Here's Kevin McReynolds trucking Mike Scioscia. Catching is hard

I know that RBI don't mean anything...except, if you've got a giganto pile, you've won a lot of games. I'm positive 3-RBI games correlate well with winning. 3-RBI games are valuable. Joe Carter was a 3-RBI boss. Maybe he's not a hall of famer...but he sure hangs out with them. If/when Stanton or Freeman pass Joe, he'll still be able to say, "there aren't 70 dudes that have more 3-RBI games than me."
