Comparisons between the Broad Based Youth Front and YK92 are not misplaced. We intend to mobilise presidential support during the 2027 General Elections, but our immediate priority is advancing the youth agenda within the Broad Based Government. Thomas Sowell reminds us that in politics there are no perfect solutions, only trade-offs. Every choice resolves one tension while accepting another. Political maturity is measured not by purity of rhetoric, but by the wisdom with which a society chooses the costs it is willing to bear for the common good. The Broad Based Youth Front is grounded in this realism. We reject the notion that permanent opposition or performative protest transforms power. Change comes when citizens engage institutions strategically and decisively. Our focus is participation with consequence. Engagement with the Broad Based Government and President William Ruto’s administration is a conscious trade-off. We accept the discomfort of proximity to power to influence policy, secure reforms, and ensure young people occupy meaningful roles in governance. Distance may preserve rhetorical purity, but it achieves nothing. This is a long-term commitment. Through disciplined organisation, collaboration across youth leagues, and pre-election initiatives, we aim to shape governance today and participate meaningfully in forming the next government. Where performance warrants continuity, we will support it; where it fails, we will challenge it openly and publicly. Our Constitution envisions citizens capable of converting dissent into policy, pressure into reform, and urgency into structure. In choosing this path, we are not abandoning conviction. We are assuming responsibility. History rarely rewards those who refuse trade-offs. It remembers those who chose wisely and turned opportunity into reform. For the youth of Kenya, the Broad Based Youth Front is that instrument. We changed this country once. We will do it again with structure, discipline, and unyielding purpose.
