PMs usually welcome more cross-functional support, but nothing is as frustrating as an over-staffed function that creates busy-work & optics-work for you & your team because the people on that x-fn team “need something to do” and their manager needs to justify current headcount.

interesting to read about firing of org chemisty prof at NYU. I faced same thing teaching product mgt at Stern. Had some great students, but a lot of ppl who felt like classes shouldn’t be hard / get an A for phoning it in. /1

@giffco Have discussed this with some academic friends. It’s a high bar to fire a noted prof even if he’s on annual contract. Eg. The bad publicity NYU is getting There’s something else not being revealed IMHO. But at 84, maybe there’s other pursuits he can follow?
