I am completely in love with this new generation of Deeper Life Mothers😂🤞🏾 I walked into the Deeper Life Mall next to my house this evening wearing a thick hoodie and this woman looked at me like I was deliberately cooking my internal organs. I had to tell her that I haven't had time to do my laundry. Immediately, she started praying that God would give me a good wife to permanently retire me from the trenches of cooking and washing. I was aggressively dropping my ''Amens'' until she attached a heavy clause: "You will marry the exact will of God, and she must be from Deeper Life." I had to politely hit the brakes. I told her the will of God is absolutely welcomed, but my marital destiny is not fenced by a specific church. As long as the woman checks my specific boxes, she can come from anywhere. Now this is where the story could have gone left. Because a decade ago, challenging a Deeper Life mother's prophecy would have earned me a mandatory deliverance session, brutal rebuke and subtle judgment packaged as concern. Not this woman, she didn’t shut me down or raise her voice neither did she weaponize scripture. She just smiled, and gave me the floor. She allowed me to logically break down my reasons for not restricting my search radius to the church. We stood there conversing like old friends, and at some point she even started smiling…making small dance steps here and there, still defending her point without silencing me. And in that moment, something shifted. It stopped being about Deeper Life. It stopped being about “the disagreement.” It became about the freedom inside the disagreement. I walked out of that mall smiling not because I was convinced. But because I was heard. And somehow… that felt like its own kind of blessing.
