No, they aren’t. In a comic, you have a character with a stark contrast between black and white; it’s part of the visual language. If you want to do the same with a Black actress, you have to adapt it. That’s your fundamental problem: in your spiral of stupidity and fear of criticising anything, you don’t even allow yourselves to question something that is simply a COSTUME CHOICE.

The Lord of the Rings: The Shadow of the Past is NOT a sequel to the trilogy. That is outrage bait misinformation that is going out of control right now. The scenes set 14 years after Return of the King are the framing device for the flashback, just like Bilbo preparing for his party was the framing device for the flashback to the events of The Hobbit sixty years earlier. In the announcement video they literally say it’s based on six chapters from Fellowship of the Ring that deal with the Old Forest, Old Man Willow, and the Barrow-Downs. x.com/warnerbros/sta…

@Giggerton @CristianAlakis I’ll explain it slowly because it’s clear you’re struggling to understand. Putting a black blouse on a black woman doesn’t make her ‘goth’. Goths have a particular style, an aesthetic; if you look it up (there’s a website called Google – it’s new!), you’ll find examples.
