Large mammals (besides ppl) are not native to Hawaii. Less than 10 axis deer were first brought to Maui. Current axis deer pop:30-50k,w significant growth expected for decades.

On Maui, hunters are used to control the invasive axis deer population that threatens native ecosystems and endemic species. Hunting is well regulated here.

So what did the hunter do? He rescued the abandoned deer.

Nicholas, our VP and account exec, found her abandoned last night when he was out bow hunting. She was alone with no other deer for miles around 😢
