Power profiling of this guy, whole night of the PCB circuit operating under “quasi real” conditions. Receiver and wake up radio module are connected to computer to see their logs.

I’m an AI PhD at Oxford wanted to move to the US for years, but it never worked out. Maybe I can share why. To me, it feels like the US is making it harder and harder for Chinese talent to come or stay. First, Trump signed PP10043, which meant I couldn’t go to the US for any graduate school. That’s why I had to turn down my Stanford offer and come to Oxford. Later, I qualified for an EB-1A (the extraordinary ability green card). But because I was born in China, I’m stuck in a country-specific backlog that could take another 4–5 years. Meanwhile, on the other side, I’m getting 3–4 emails from China almost every week. They offer high salaries, free housing, generous research funding, and even offered an astonishing amount of money just for me to come back and have a conversation. I’ve always loved the American spirit. I truly believe my abilities could have a bigger impact there. But honestly, the whole process has been incredibly frustrating. All of this makes me wonder whether I should just give up. Why am I spending so much energy trying to go to a country that doesn’t seem to want me, when another country is doing everything it can to bring me back?

Yesterday I attended the inauguration of Powerhouse in Shenzhen. Such a nice event, i got the chance to talk with Ryan and as a person that builds hardware, I can say that Powerhouse will be a nice place to be, build, make and create.

The new syllabus for my Stanford course 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿 is coming along nicely. The AI coding world has changed a lot since last September. The new class will be bigger, more difficult, more fun. More exciting things coming soon!

Things I would never take to an airport… I need my laptop for the power profiler as it doesn’t works with Linux and can not run on a RPi. And needed to leave it outside for the GNSS, so, i put this in one suitcase and left it run couple of hours.

The Power Profile Kit II from @NordicTweets is amazing. Next time I make a PCB I will use the logic ports as well for the alerts and a better understanding on the behavior of the PCB. Building for custodia.world

STM32 is so complicated. It reminds me to when I was working with PLCs. One app to code, one for testing and another to upload the program. Super annoying.

First time working with a Wake Up Radio Module . This is to trigger the wake up and send tracker packets stored in the MCU. This is part of an R&D project to download data of animal trackers using a drone in the fields

We need to make cartoons and anime like this and let the kids watch it instead of Cocomelon. Make the mechanics and the engineers the heroes in that and watch how more kids will now be interested in hardware and engineering. Btw, this was all done before AI.
