Last night the Grenfell Memorial passed through the House of Commons, giving the authority for the Government to provide the funding for a fitting memorial and it's upkeep, in addition to an archive and exhibition. Those responsible for Grenfell should be jailed. The Tower stands surrounded by one of the wealthiest areas in Britain, yet it was neglected, warnings ignored, and safety treated as an afterthought. While a memorial is a step in the right direction, we need justice too.

Why is this? High service charges (£8,700 a year for a 3-bedder 🤯), and concerns about cladding post Grenfell. All this makes it unsurprising that London housebuilding has collapsed - down 72% in just a year!

@tomcopley @Estates_Gazette Can you explain how 2026 is going to be a turnaround year for housing in London, when the majority of housing in London is flats? Flats are currently toxic due to Building Safety Issues and Leasehold. Those issues need to be resolved to fix the market for flats.

Leaseholders at a Birmingham apartment block have said their homes have become "unliveable" as long running cladding and safety works remain unfinished, in what they call a "horror story". bbc.in/4culG3o

Leaseholders deserve better than being left at risk of bankruptcy or homelessness. Costs should not fall on them instead of freeholders and developers:
