@peteyburn yeah and honestly, there might be a way where SSBMRank might not include someone like Cody off of two events but maybe Lucky Rank does and i think it's cool that both have their own set goals and can deal with these types of things differently!

@GimmeDatWheat Appreciate your openness on it. And yea, my stance is that a properly tuned points system would put Cody where he belongs If nobody else manages to accrue enough points between now and December, he either dominated THAT much or the system requires tuning. Which is solvable!

@peteyburn would be a little hard to reckon with how to place him against Top 10 players who might've gone to like 4x the number of events but maybe that's not an issue! would be something to look into for sure

@peteyburn would be something worth considering, I think the main thing to think about is that the players who benefit most are the ones who make it furthest in bracket Imagine a scenario where Cody ends his year right now and is eligible because of sets played 1/2

@peteyburn anyway there's always a possibility of a change in the future, especially if future years for Melee still have issues with fewer tournaments, increased prices for getting to them and geopolitical conflicts that might make international players feel unsafe in the US so, we'll see

@peteyburn without an event req you might get into scenarios like Leffen in 2023 where the panelists had a lot of trouble weighing his three events with others who went to more, and ultimately decided to give more credit to the players who attended more than the bare minimum

@moky_dokie @IncelFactory Most of the money we get from sponsors goes to paying writers, photographers and the people who work on graphics. There are years (like the 2025 top 100) where we don't have enough to pay people like me or Ambi because we had to pay out of pocket due to not having a sponsor

@moky_dokie @IncelFactory You're right to say it isn't volunteer work, but since you keep bringing up the money it's probably good to go over where the money goes Across 4 top 100s and 3 summer ranks, as the director I've made a total of about $2000-2500 total, an average of about $300 per ranking

@moky_dokie @IncelFactory we took a crypto deal and used all of the money to fly out international players and put them in hotel rooms We easily could've pocketed it all because there was no requirement as to what we used it for, but decided it was cooler to fly out players from around to world instead
