Today Twitter randomly changed how their auth works, it seems to be broken if you aren't already logged in, and now is broken for the twitter domain as well. As a temporary workaround, try ensuring you are already logged into twitter in the browser, and on the page gimmickbots redirects you to, change twitter to x in the URL. That seems to work. Sorry about this.

@GimmickBots hello! every time i try to log into my bot, it comes up with this? i've tried on chrome, firefox, edge and also my phone. whenever i click 'sign in' it redirects me here, it's not particular to my bot.
do you have any advice on how to proceed? thank you!

English

@vampymand Unfortunately taking a while but yes I am actively working on an update to the site
English

@GimmickBots my dms won't work for some reason, but I can't log in to the site at all and it always throws an error.
i've checked my developer portal and it redirects to developer.x.com so I think my account should be unaffected by the recent API changes.

English

It looks like maybe you managed to log in eventually? The error could've been caused by things like having multiple GimmickBots tabs open, or some browser extension interfering, or something else. If it keeps happening you might try opening the site in Incognito so you start with a fresh browser state.
English

I already have tracery code on the site, and I paused tweeting so I could finish/update all the quotes I've added to the bot, so I'm not a new user or anything, which makes it more confusing @_@
English

Not sure what your bot account is, but you're probably encountering the issue I mentioned in my most recent tweet. Twitter intentionally broke free Twitter dev accounts, so it's erroring when you try to tweet or start the bot or other things. So far it seems mostly limited to new users trying to sign up, but not always. I'm working on an update for the site so it will work for new users again.
English

@byebicycle Most likely this issue, it's causing people to see a 500 error, also. If you tell me the bot account I can double check.
English

@GimmickBots hi, i keep getting error status code 500 trying to start my bot (not newly registered, just had it paused for a while). is that related to this issue or is it something else?
English

It seems Twitter has started opting newly-registered developer accounts in to a different developer dashboard that lacks a free tier. As a result, some newly-registered users are unable to get their bot tweeting since Twitter returns an error, "Payment Required". If you've recently signed up for GimmickBots and get redirected to console.x\.com rather than remaining on developer.x.com when you go to your developer dashboard, you are affected. Existing bots that are already set up are not affected.
Hopefully it's just a bug that they will fix. It's only been a few days since it started, and it wouldn't be the first time Twitter has broken something.
If you aren't being redirected to console.x\.com but your bot still isn't tweeting, it's probably a different issue. Feel free to DM for help.
English

@lazaruscontract @infreshhell Your bot is getting the issue in the tweet you replied to, since it was made recently. So far this seems to be an intentional break by Twitter with their new dev dashboard no longer supporting free dev accounts. I am working on updates in the coming weeks to address this.
English

@GimmickBots hey! :) i cant dm bc we arent following each other, but i was hoping you could help me with something. my bot @infreshhell hasnt posted at all since i started it and i dont know why?
English

@leechejamyum @leechefeels Your bot does appear to be encountering the issue above unfortunately. I assume you're redirected to console.x\.com ? It will let you create an account and make credentials without paying, but the credentials will not work.
English

@GimmickBots hey! can't DM you since you arent following me. Could I ask for help with troubleshooting my bot @leechefeels ? It does not seem to be affected by the issue above, but it's still not posting. Thank you if you look into it!
English

@ryosangbot It was another twitter issue. They were returning 404s when the bot tried to upload images, for a few hours. Seems like they resolved it now. docs.x.com/incidents
English

☕️: @GimmickBots today the bot skipped posting at 1:18PM, would you happen to know what caused it? Thanks!
English

@ryosangbot Twitter returned a 503 Service Unavailable error when your bot tried to tweet. They were having issues docs.x.com/incidents. Odd that it happened repeatedly at the same time, but it seems to have worked today. You can DM if you need further help.
English

☕️: Hello @GimmickBots, on this account there has been a recent and consistent problem of the bot failing to post content during this specific time of day:
4:18AM
Would you be able to find out why? Thank you!
English

@GimmickBots today the bot missed posting at 5:13AM, would you be able to find out what caused it? Thanks!

@NOX_BZ When your bot tries to tweet, Twitter returns a 402 error, which is "Payment Required". I've never seen that before. It sounds like maybe you accidentally set up a paid account instead of a free account? You can DM if you have further questions.
English

It looks like when your bot tries to tweet, Twitter is returning an error: "Your client app is not configured with the appropriate oauth1 app permissions for this endpoint". It sounds like your bot is not set up correctly, or the API keys you used weren't correct. You might want to click the API Keys button in GimmickBots to redo the setup, and make sure to follow the steps, and that it looks like the screenshots. As part of that, you might also regenerate your API keys and make sure to paste the right ones into the boxes on that setup page. DM if you need more help.
English

.@GimmickBots i hope you guys dont mind the tag!! lookin for help… i dunno if theres something im doing wrong, but after 11 hours this bot wont post (i have it set to every 3 hours) ’:-( im not getting an error or anything whenever i start up the bot which is confusing!!!
English

It's not shutting down, it got an error when it tried to tweet. In this case because you're using the img tag wrong. It's meant to be used with a direct link to an image file. Tweets or /photo/1 links aren't direct image links, they're html pages. However, you can use the /photo/1 links without the img tag, because Twitter replaces those with photos on its own. That's just a feature of Twitter, not GimmickBots. You can DM if you need further help.
English

its supposed to post every 3 hours why does it keep shutting down randomly :( @GimmickBots is there something im doing wrong??

Trying a potential work around. It seems to be working so far. Unless that changes, your bots should start to resume tweeting on schedule.
GimmickBots@GimmickBots
It seems that Twitter has blocked the host the bots run on, which is why they aren't tweeting. Maybe it's accidental and they'll fix it. In case it isn't, I'll try working around the block. You can leave your bot running (they're still attempting to tweet on schedule, just being denied by Twitter) and they will resume when the issue is resolved.

@0xtiago_ Yes, feel free to message me and I'll keep it in mind

@GimmickBots i have some code that works pretty well for this that doesn't get your acc banned, should i send it to you? it's javascript (node/bun) but shouldn't be too hard to move to any other language
English

🫠Looks like Twitter made their free-tier API even more limited: now the max number of tweets is only 500/month (17 per day?). It seems it will no longer be possible to tweet more frequently than that with a free Twitter developer account.
Their next tier, Basic, is $200/month and would give 15000 tweets, but I assume no one here is crazy enough to pay for that. I could, but it'd only be enough for 20 users to tweet hourly, so it wouldn't be enough. The next tier is $5000/month.
Those of you tweeting every three hours or more shouldn't be affected (although, if you start/stop your bot repeatedly, it's possible to run into that 17/day limit).
Those of you who have been tweeting more frequently should switch to every 2 hours, for now at least. If your bot isn't tweeting, it's likely hit Twitter's daily rate limit already, which I believe should reset in 24 hours. Sorry about this.

English

@STUDJOKER It looks like maybe you got it working, but if you have further issues you can DM
