2-Hour Delayed Start-Monday, March 16, 2026 Out of an abundance of caution, and in alignment with several of our regional school system counterparts, Newton County Schools will operate on a two-hour delayed start tomorrow, Monday, March 16. Weather forecasts indicate the potential for severe storms in our area during the early morning hours, including the possibility of strong thunderstorms, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes. These conditions could impact travel during our normal bus routes and arrival times. We take seriously the safety of our transportation specialists who are on the roads early each morning, as well as the safety of our students and staff traveling to school. Please note that this decision does not mean that severe thunderstorms will always result in delayed operations. In this instance, however, several factors including matters of timing and projected severity were considered as part of this decision. Thank you for your continued support as we work to keep our students and staff safe.
