As Teacher Appreciation week ends, understand we have a teacher shortage because we have an attrition crisis. Teachers are leaving in droves because they don’t feel supported, valued, & they are simply burnt out. We need to take care of our teachers more than one week a year.

To the people who say it’s all about the kids. Just remember the kids learn in an environment created by the teacher. A teacher who is supported, encouraged and appreciated will create a more positive and dynamic learning environment than a teacher who is not supported that way.

@GingerTedder @StarkvilleDaily Big thing, at least for me. is that a lot of these folks, not all, already had stockpiles before this. I would donate to the Southern Foundation for Homeless Children, who is doing stuff locally here.

If you or someone you know is going hungry in Starkville tonight, I just dropped off a good bit of food at the little pantry across from FUMC (it was about empty). I’ll also be taking donations at the SDN office to keep it stocked as long as school’s out
