It was a big week for @WatershedPCS Ss, staff and families. We attended the BoE meeting to hear the 5 yr contract renewal recommendation that @MyriamYarbrough provided. We are excited and honored to continue our work with BCPS students! @JaneLichter @nashaeb

G5 Ss have so much to be proud of today- they channeled their strengths and interests to perform a chant about the Bill of Rights in self-selected groups. They showed tremendous creativity, teamwork, and kindness. @WatershedPCS 🐢✨

G5 Ss were so engaged in sit-spots that a furry friend decided to join us! You don't need to go to the zoo to joyfully observe wildlife- nature rewards at @WatershedPCS!🐢🌳🐈

G6 #socialstudies Ss evaluated the fairness of the caste system of the Indus River Valley civilization by simulating daily tasks completed by each tier of the hierarchy. They gave away tasks based on their rank, and could learn Sanskrit and vote when finished! @WatershedPCS

Why label diagrams of environmental modifications when you can construct them? 6th graders collaboratively created 3D representations of Indus River Valley modifications, including urban planning, drainage, irrigation, and fortification. @WatershedPCS

5th grade Social Studies Ss raced to identify the powers of the 3 branches of US government- then limited each other's power with checks and balances "sabotage" cards. Exercising bodies, minds, and constitutional power @WatershedPCS🐢

English

@WatershedPCS 5th & 6th grade environmentalists took to the woods to manage the spotted lanternfly population, successfully scraping eggs from the trees. All in a day's work for Watershed Turtles!

Today's formative assessment: can you convey the most interesting thing you've learned about Ancient Mesopotamia- without using words or numbers? 6th graders practiced in preparation for their Unit 1 curative projects- What would you travel 25 miles to tell? @WatershedPCS

Block 1 Ss constructed and tested their irrigation systems today. It was great to see their ideas become reality. Several were able to successfully water their crops without drowning their civilization! @WatershedPCS #pbl #socialstudies

I'm very excited for 6th graders to build their irrigation systems to see if they can modify land like the Mesopotamians @WatershedPCS🐢 stay tuned!
