People are dying because the U.S. blockade is preventing lifesaving medicines from reaching Cuba. Across the island, hospitals face severe shortages of medicines, fuel, and basic medical supplies. Treatments are delayed. Equipment cannot be repaired. Ambulances and hospital generators struggle to run. These shortages are not accidental. They are the direct result of U.S. policy. This week, Global Exchange will travel to Cuba with the Nuestra América Convoy, joining delegations from across the Americas to deliver urgently needed humanitarian aid. Collectively, the convoy is bringing more than 20 tons of aid to the Cuban people. Our delegation alone will carry 1,800 pounds of humanitarian supplies and more than $23,000 in urgently needed cancer medicines directly to hospitals. But humanitarian aid alone cannot stop this crisis. It’s time to end the inhumane and deadly U.S. blockade of Cuba.
