Lmao, but in all honesty war stopped being "proper" since WW1 It's why you don't see elites going and sending their kids like they all used to. People getting mowed down by the hundreds of thousands was not wavy. But I agree a good old gunfight in the motherland is pretty wavy.

In the hypothetical world of box flipping a dedicated machine would be better than a humanoid. There’s no reason for a humanoid in this scenario. They would never be reassigned and too costly/slow

@kyledcollins @adcock_brett Design new machinery and the robot will build it for you. Or are you going to build by hand a machine that builds that one? Man, if you don't get this nothing we can do for you man lol

@GlobalHitman @adcock_brett With the pace of advancement of AI, it does not take 5 years to design new machinery for the tasks that this robot can do. You are still thinking lineally when we are riding an exponential

@SomethingOnSnow I doesn't have to be zero sum.. but it can be if you fall too far behind. Europeans in African kind of situations can arise.

@GlobalHitman AI being something you “win” is part of what makes it so scary for Americans. People would be scared of shovels if it was a race to win. I lost the shovel race, now the other guy dominates my life.

Every conversation about AI is so stupid. The cat is out of the bag, there's no putting it back in. The research on how to do it is mostly open source, you can read it all yourself. Yes, a lot of people are going out of business. It'll suck but they'll be fine eventually.

@kyledcollins @adcock_brett ask yourself these questions. What do you do when you need to do another task? Spend 5 years designing one for that specific task?

I did a poll in 2024 asking people what US politician they respected the most and most republicans didn't say Trump, they said Thomas Massie. Which was very surprising to me at the time. But it was my audience so biased sample I guess.

@ShaneMa01033790 You can benefit if the ROI is there but it's not... War economies and regular economies work different. In a real economy someone has to want what you're selling. The government is not just borrowing money and dumping it into weapons etc. which keeps people employed. etc etc

@GlobalHitman What do you mean they can't stop? thought there's no instance of a country having benefited from prolonged warfare.

They're out bashing their heads into a brick wall in Ukraine. Probably going to end up being the worst geopolitical decision of the modern era. Soon as they go off of the war time economy they got going on it most likely all just collapses. It's also why Putin can't stop.

i wasn't even thinking ahead for the infrastructure. massive lol. when i was in moscow in 2011-2012, i met american consultants at PWC that were advising the building of skolkovo with funding/advisors from microsoft. it was america's rapproach - the 'reset' era to help them build a silicon valley. it completely fell apart and was scrapped to corruption concerns. koshmar

@trevor_abroad For sure.. The LLM thing is just a fun metric because it requires a lot of your society to function at certain level. Datacenters, power, expertise etc.

the entire conflict (war) has been blown into red/blue optics. essentially though, russia hasn't taken anything significant in land mass gains since 2022. they can barely retain what they do have. they can't even take ukrainian capitals 10-15km from their borders. even if you look up key land corridors from RU to crimea (highway 14) their logistics is consistently contested. the recent figures on RU casualties outpacing recruitment, drone effectiveness by UA deep strikes and volume don't help either. UA deep strikes of industrial sites adds a lot of pressure points to "staying the course" for russia. regarding the lack of prowess with LLMs (lol) - another great bearish signal is the consistent brain drain of russian talent and expertise since the 80's. tho this trend has been ongoing for 100 years.
