The vacated wins penalty is absurd. Iowa vacated for texting one kid a few days early. (self-reported, cooperated) MSU vacated for reimbursing travel expenses on a recruiting visit. (self-reported, cooperated) OSU vacated because players traded gear for tattoos. (self-reported, cooperated) Michigan did NOT vacate for an elaborate 3-year on-field cheating scheme involving 56 separate incidents targeting 13 opponents. (did not self-report, did not cooperate) The “vacated wins scoreboard” is not a measure of compliance or integrity. If it were, Michigan wouldn’t be at 0 after receiving 30-years of show causes and the largest financial penalty for rules violations in NCAA history.
