I hate "I don't see color" folks. See my black skin. Understand what it means. Acknowledge its mistreatment. Act accordingly.

@NigarPatti9130 @BlackMajikMan90 I could say that Sam Raimi handing Evil Dead over to various directors of this era to make acclaimed installments in his cherished franchise is proof that horror is in a great place. Bc that's a legendary icon of the genre stamping various filmmakers of today.

@Goatsegg1 @BlackMajikMan90 A movie like undertone and Blair witch project tells you everything about the state of horror. Both use a trendy gimmick yet it’s only Blair witch which is interested in actually telling a story rather than just being about its gimmick

@NigarPatti9130 @BlackMajikMan90 Eh that's a comparison between one of the best movies of its era (Blair Witch) to a movie that while great, relies more on auditory horror and that's where it's uniqueness comes from. Again experimental.

@NigarPatti9130 @BlackMajikMan90 Strong disagree idk when you say things like agenda it sounds more like you have an issue with horror movies expanding the genre and the topics that are covered more than anything. But that in of itself is experimental.

@Goatsegg1 @BlackMajikMan90 Horror films are about agendas, marketing and social gimmicks/memes now. They’re not about the form or filmmaking. Nearly every horror film relies on some concept and stretching it out. Back in the day, horror films had actual stories built around these concepts.

@NigarPatti9130 @BlackMajikMan90 Experimental as in being experimental. Movies like The Substance, Get Out, The Witch, Hereditary, No One Will Save You, Host, Redux Redux, Barbarian, Weapons and etc Not to mention creators from YouTube making hits these days Horror is in a great spot today creatively

@Goatsegg1 @BlackMajikMan90 Experimental? In what way? 28 Years Later is as experimental as the genre got and yall hated it. Return to Silent Hill is more experimental than anything the critics or fans are praising too. The 70s and 80s had actual filmmaker visions in horror. Craven, Hooper, Carpenter, etc

@NigarPatti9130 @BlackMajikMan90 If you're a huge horror fan then I don't know how you could have this take. Because horror is more experimental today than it was before. Literally the best genre in film today imo. Majority of the movies people are going crazy about are horror films today.

@BlackMajikMan90 As a huge horror fan, he’s right. The genre is garbage nowadays. It’s all heavily reliant on gimmicks, social media trends, and empty buzz from critics who don’t even know what a good movie is anymore because there are virtually none out there nowadays.

Praying that Inde Navarrette can leverage this Obsession juice into working with some cool filmmakers and doesn’t get sucked up into the streaming romcom pipeline or some Colleen Hoover bullshit

@therlwrites @PromoteHorror 10/10 took my cousin who had never seen a horror movie that isn't your stereotypical slasher, he was shocked at how much he liked it. He gave it a 10 as well 🤣
