Day 55 - Life is funny, but we survive Remember to breathe, Rome wasn't built in a day... Remember to Self-Care, The English didn't conquer the world overnight. Remember to Eat, a starving body can only last so long. Seek Help, WWII was won through alliances. It's Me, ~Chris

Day 54 - Life is not about Perfection Remember to breathe, cause life is not going to stay the same. How are you doing today, did you remember to love 💕 yourself? What about accepting the mess and experiences you survived. It's not always shameful My Daily Thoughts, ~Chris

An hour south of Pittsburgh, PA and the smoke smells even in the car. That white stuff that looks like fog? That’s not fog, it’s the smoke from the Canadian wildfires. I hope these fires are put out soon and the rain comes for the area, because this is not pleasant or safe at all.

@BarrakAli I love Dennis! We ended up talking mostly about how my husband needs to get with the program and make a baby with me in ways that only Dennis can say certain things😂😂😂😂😂

Nobody Asked Me to Join (And I'm Thrilled) Good Morning World!!! In college, I discovered that I abhorred group projects. There was always one guy who wanted to be in charge. Almost always a guy. One time it was a girl, but that was a team of all girls. And that guy (or that one girl) was normally kind of an idiot. Idiots love to be in charge because it makes them feel important. They also resist any idea that is good unless they can somehow make it their idea. And of course, the idiot never does what they are supposed to do as part of the team. It's like someone insisting on bringing the main dish to the potluck and then showing up with a bag of stale chips and a lot of opinions. After several forced group projects where my GPA took a slight nosedive because the final grade hinged on the group, I stopped playing nice. I would quickly assess the team, immediately identify the competent people, and let the idiot think they were in charge while two or three of us just did all the work between the first meeting and the second. We'd nod, we'd smile, we'd praise the idiot. It worked. It was gross, but it worked. Like putting a casserole together with whatever's left in the fridge. Not pretty, but edible. But here's the thing. When I got to choose my own team, group projects didn't suck. They could even be fun. Turns out picking your people makes all the difference. Who knew? Everyone. Everyone knew. So, fast forward to now. I've been working on a group project recently. There's a contest I told many of you about. The Future Vision XPrize. I really wanted to enter, but I'm not an AI video genius, and I couldn't think of a good story. I had a half-baked story, but it wasn't good. It was the creative equivalent of yesterday's coffee. Lukewarm and slightly bitter. Then someone reached out. Actually... Nobody reached out. Absolutely Nobody asked me to join their team. And before you worry, "Nobody" is the name of a very talented creator who is the opposite of nobody. She's somebody. She's amazing. Organized. On top of everything. The kind of person who probably folds her fitted sheets into perfect squares on the first try. At first, I half-heartedly agreed to look things over. I didn't think I had the time or the talent. But then hours started passing. The three of us (Nobody, Salty, and me) yakking away, making stuff, laughing at our own jokes. It took a little while for me to stop tip-toeing around my opinions. You know how it is. You don't want to be the one who says, "I don't like that," and makes someone cry. But here, I can speak candidly. I can say, "What if we tried this instead?" And no one cries. No one pouts. We just build things together. Which somehow feels more like playing than working. It is so amazing to be part of a well-oiled machine and not feel like a third wheel. Even though, honestly, I'm kind of the slacker in the group. They value my contributions, but I mostly pop in, say "we should do this or that," toss out some ideas, and sometimes make a thing. And they understand. And I look forward to every meeting because it's FUN. Genuinely fun. The kind of fun that makes you forget you're working on a contest entry and just enjoy the process. So, we're going to do the final project even if we don't win the prize. That's how good this team is. Tonight at 5 PM PST, Salty Nobody Productions is doing a live stream for a new video premiere. I'd love to see all of you show up and root for my friend's newest video drop. These are good people. Creative people. The kind of people you want on your team. I finally found my group project soulmates, and I'm not letting go. Even if I'm the one who mostly brings coffee and occasionally a decent idea. Have a wonderful day, and may the algorithm always be in your favor.
