Synyster Gates (aka Brian Haner Jr.) used to actively compete in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments. I think he had to give it up eventually because grappling can permanently ruin your fingers, and he couldn't risk his guitar career. Still insane to think about his dedication to it.
