30 years ago, 「Gamera 2: Attack of Legion」 was released to Japanese theaters. The second entry in director Shusuke Kaneko's Heisei Gamera trilogy was critically acclaimed and like its predecessor won the prestigious Seiun Award for Best Dramatic Presentation.

Today we join everyone in mourning legendary actor Sam Neill, star of countless films spanning genres for over five decades, and best remembered for his role as Dr. Alan Grant in three of the 「Jurassic Park」 films. He will star in next year's 「Godzilla x Kong: Supernova」.

In the Showa era, Gigan's hooked metal claws are called "Hammer Hands." In 「Godzilla Final Wars」, Gigan initially possesses scythe-like blades on its forearms called "Bloody Triggers," which are replaced by "Bloody Chainsaws" when it is upgraded into Modified Gigan.

Prior to its being voted into the mobile game 「Godzilla Battle Line」 in 2022, the Giant Octopus' only other video game appearance came in the 1995 educational game 「Godzilla: Heart-Pounding Monster Island!!」 for the SEGA Pico.

Publicity stills for 「Ebirah, Horror of the Deep」 depict Godzilla throwing Ebirah above his head, an image synonymous with Ebirah that never actually happens onscreen. This pose has been recreated in a publicity still from 「Final Wars」 and a panel from 「Rulers of Earth」.

Shinichiro Kobayashi wrote the first scenario to suggest a crystalline Godzilla clone aptly given the name "Crystal Godzilla," while artist Minoru Yoshida created the final design for what became known as SpaceGodzilla by modifying his own design for Super Godzilla.

Radically different ideas and designs were considered for Godzilla's foe in the sixth Heisei film, ranging from the alien "Emperor Ghidorah" to a bizarre shapeshifting skull-faced creature and finally to the crystalline SpaceGodzilla.

In 「GAMERA -Rebirth-」, Viras instead discharges electricity through its tentacles when it grabs Gamera.

Viras has the ability to emit electricity from the top of its head and amplify it up to 1 billion volts as a death ray, though it never demonstrates this in 「Gamera vs. Viras」. Viras does use this ability in the film's manga adaptation as well as Dark Horse's 「Gamera」 comic.

In the 1997 show 「Godzilla Island」, the M Space Hunter Aliens are confined to their spacecraft which is patterned after a roach bait trap, a visual gag referencing the aliens' cockroach-like appearance.

Trendmasters also created a unique icon for "Supercharged Godzilla," a specific form of Godzilla in its toy lines ostensibly representing the Heisei Godzilla's powered-up 100 meter state he attains in 「Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah」.

Trendmasters only created original icons for the "Big Five" monsters Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, King Ghidorah (along with Mecha-King Ghidorah), and Mechagodzilla.

On the packaging for its Godzilla figures, Trendmasters sometimes included unique versions of the monsters' trademark icons featuring the company's designs for the monsters in place of the original artwork.

Anguirus' signature "Anguirus Ball" attack did not appear in a film until 「Godzilla Final Wars」, though it has been a staple of his video game movesets since Alfa System's fighting games in the 90s. It has since been featured extensively in Anguirus' IDW comic appearances.
