on a serious note, i’d like to address a couple things. first of all, if there is anyone that i personally made feel insecure or hurt by posting my photos, i apologize. my intent is never to harm any young women, and i can say that the audience of my posts (from my analytics) is mostly men and other women (that are my oomfies). the toxic and unrealistic beauty standards of social media that give many women body image issues, eating disorders, and body dysmorphia (which i have struggled with since i was 12) have been in existence long before i ever posted and will continue to exist after this. these are also the exact same standards that make women feel the need to edit photos. i don’t think it is productive to platform this serious conversation off of this specific beef, especially because OP had 0 interest in making this a feminist issue, but rather tweeted to “expose” and shame me. additionally, shaming women for having body image issues and the actions they take in response to them (editing, disordered eating, or plastic surgery) is also further ENFORCING the same standards. i can acknowledge my part in upholding these toxic standards, and again, if there is anyone i have actually personally harmed by my posts, i would like to apologize to u and u only. most of the biggest cosplay accs on here edit their photos in some way. we’re not selling workout or dieting plans, we’re selling cosplays. our main audience is not young, impressionable women. i have also been 100% transparent with any person that has dm’d me asking for my workout routine. secondly, boomie had 0 intention of ever starting a conversation about the unrealistic beauty standards of social media. she said 0 about this, and admitted she wanted to post it because it was funny. the only motivation behind her posts were to shame and expose me. it is an obvious outcome that blasting other women online will open the door to incels taking the opportunity to be hateful. she also ADMITTED HERSELF that she was being misogynistic in her own tweet. (tweet in photo followed the initial deleting of the og tweet, before she decided to repost). i did a shitty photoshop job and that’s embarrassing! boomie’s initial tweet triggered me because it just felt like someone laughing at me and wanting others to point and laugh as well. i personally would never shame someone for their insecurities, especially after they already communicated to me that they have them. her desire TO shame/expose me is what i called out as pick-me behavior. some of u will disagree with this and that’s fine. finally, to the women commenting on this issue: incels will take any opportunity they can to shit on women, and they certainly have with this entire beef. if u are trying to champion the issue of women’s insecurity due to edited photos, please realize that these men are equally using it to spew the most hateful shit ever as well. i’ve had people call me and my friends asian slurs, whore, man, ugly, fat, catfish, worthless, etc and told me to kms. if u think i deserve this then that’s fine, but i just want to let you know that this is who ur standing with.
