The 911 call said he had a gun. Police HAVE to operate as if he DOES have a gun from that point forward. That gun could easily be RIGHT behind that wall he tried to sit on. To the police, that means when he goes to sit there it’s an escalation of the danger. To mitigate this, the police REPEATEDLY commanded him to lay on the ground and he NEVER COMPLIED. That’s why they didn’t move in to arrest him - to prevent him from possibly getting the *reported* gun from some stashed spot behind him, they tried to get him on the ground and he refused to do it. I’m sorry that you find all of this police protocol upsetting but if it bothers you, you need to take that up with ALLLL of the suspects like this that constantly do things like pull guns out of unexpected places and fire on officers. THEY are the reason the protocols have to exist. That settlement is fucking bogus.
