Overall, I am pleasantly surprised. It lacks the warm, homely feel of the Columbus films, but then again, it needs to distinguish itself from those films, otherwise, it will come across as a cheap cosplay. It still successfully captures that degree of magic this show requires, though. The new cast all seem great... except for Snape. I have nothing against Paapa Essiedu, but his casting SIGNIFICANTLY changes Snape’s dynamic with the other characters, particularly the Marauders. Snape is one of the most important characters in the series, only behind Harry and Dumbledore, and for a show that has supposedly been made to accurately adapt the books, this alteration to the character will do anything but reflect Snape from the books.

None of us have seen the third instalment in the 28 Years Later trilogy — if that even arrives at all — so there’s a chance that film may further utilise Jimmy Crystal, but if it doesn’t, that will be a real shame. Having thought more about The Bone Temple, the entire trilogy should have focused entirely on Jimmy Crystal. Don’t get me wrong, The Bone Temple handles him well, but I would love to have seen even more of his characterisation, and that’s a testament to both the brilliant writing and acting in that film. Designating the apocalypse as a backdrop for a character study instead of having that be the primary focus is a decision I think was wise. The intrigue of Jimmy’s character is that he is stuck in his own fantasy, warped by a world that possesses no real foundations for him to overcome his trauma. The Bone Temple only scratches the surface of how a person like that operates, and having him be the central character of the trilogy would have rectified that. Regardless as to whether we see more of this character going forward, he will go down as one of the most complex villains in recent memory, and Jack O’Connell is a real juggernaut of an actor.

I was saying to people just before the year started that 2026 will be a blessing for Doctor Who fans. We have the Doctor Who: The Movie 4K release coming soon, the two newly announced recovered episodes of ‘The Daleks’ Master Plan’, as well as plenty of highly anticipated fan films.

We are now three months into 2026, which is baffling when you say it out loud, considering it only feels as if Christmas was last week. Throughout this year, I have been doing what I like to refer to as a ‘digital detox’, which I hope becomes a permanent change in my life. At the back end of 2025, I started to become incredibly worn down and demotivated due to constantly being on social media all day. It wasn’t just that everything I was seeing was doom and gloom; the information overload was genuinely giving me headaches. Having used social media only to keep up to date with specific pop culture accounts and to message friends, I have felt far more alive this year, no longer wasting my time focusing on interpersonal conflicts between individuals I have no connection to or becoming cynical from all the rage bait that dominates these platforms. Instead, I have gone for walks and made an effort to spend time reading physical books rather than staring at a screen all day. I don’t want to make social media sound like the worst invention of all time. In fact, it can be a source of good when used appropriately, but there is far too much division going on in the world, and platforms like these only amplify it for the purpose of getting people to interact with posts. If you are someone who has found yourself feeling isolated as of late, put down your devices and see the beauty in the world — of which there are unfathomable amounts. I guarantee you will begin to reclaim energy that has been redirected away from you.

I was not expecting, of all people, Gale’s entrance to have me pumped with adrenaline. That scene is undeniably badass.

I have seen Scream 7. This is the Halloween (2018) of the Scream franchise, offering a different spin on the series up to this point while still sticking to the basics. The entire cast is on top form, and this is easily the strongest outing for the Meeks-Martin twins. Then there’s the legend Matthew Lillard, who steals every single scene he’s in. With that being said, the third act is incredibly weak, as is the Ghostface reveal, and this brings the film down significantly. However, everything up until that point is solid, and I respect the franchise for branching off in a new direction.

@Hooded_Man_81 It’s what it is; Lily is destined to play Audrey Hepburn. It is written in the stars.

Justin Hartley’s Oliver Queen/Green Arrow will go down as one of the greatest live-action comic book character portrayals.
