On behalf of the career firefighters, volunteer firefighters and administrative staff, we wish you a safe, Happy Thanksgiving! Our administrative offices will be closed Thursday & Friday in observance of the holiday. Our firefighters will be on duty in case of an emergency.

Thanksgiving Tip: Have a “kid-free zone” of at least 3-feet around the stove and areas where hot food or drink is prepared or carried. Get your children involved with fire and life safety by cutting out and assembling the Kid-Free Zone marker.

Make sure your smoke alarms are working. Test them by pushing the test button.

Make sure kids stay away from hot food and liquids. The steam or splash from vegetables, gravy or coffee could cause severe burns.

Thanksgiving Tip: Turn pot handles toward the back of the stove so no one can bump or pull them over.

Thanksgiving Tip: Watch what you are cooking. Fires start when the heat is too high. If you see any smoke or the grease starts to boil, turn the burner off.

On Thanksgiving day alone, an estimated 1,160 home cooking fires were reported to U.S. fire departments in 2021, reflecting a 297 percent increase over the daily average.

During the Thanksgiving holiday, unattended cooking was by far the leading contributing factor in cooking fires and fire deaths. In case you get distracted set a timer to remind yourself that you have food cooking.

Exciting news! The Golden Fire Dept. will soon have a new life-size female firefighter sculpture installed in front of their building. Today, the sculpture is on its way to the bronze factory. This piece will be installed with another firefighter sculpture "Follow Your Heart”.
