CZ on Why He Wanted to Write a Book While in Prison Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) shared via a live feed at the DC Blockchain Summit 2026 on March 18 that he began writing his book while in prison because he "had nothing to do" and the project kept him busy. Reflecting on his journey, CZ described himself as a "normal person" whose life has been a rollercoaster, taking him from a rural village in China to building one of the world's leading crypto companies. He recalled flipping burgers at McDonald's for 4.5 CAD an hour at age 14, adding that he believes anyone could achieve what he has. CZ hopes the book will help the public understand him better while offering courage and advice to young entrepreneurs.
