I’m beyond thrilled to be joining Tui T. Sutherland on this journey, adapting her fantastic WINGS OF FIRE novels as a television event series for @PrimeVideo. Pyrrhia is a realm of wonder, epic drama and hope for a better tomorrow. I can’t wait for you to see it take flight.

I know the word “agonist” is just a medical term for a kind of neurotransmitter… But to me, it will forever sound like some kind of demon necromancer D&D monster that specializes in magical torment.

@TobyDom97 For Wizards, there was quite a bit. For instance, we wanted to bring back the Lady of the Lake as a lost spirit in the present. The Wild Wood paved over as a parking lot in the “Age of Man”. Seeing stuff like this would tilt Arthur over the edge, the future he fought for unjust.

Since a few folks are curious, TV animation often takes a surprisingly long time. From development to greenlight to production usually lasts years, as everything from scripts to character designs to environments and style sre meticulously created from scratch! (1/2)

@TobyDom97 We also pitched bringing Grendel in as a creature they would face at some point. There was also a story in Season One we had to cut because it was too complicated — secret message Kanjigar tried to relay to his successor using a hand gesture they’d find when he was rebuilt.

@TobyDom97 In Trollhunters? There were a few. We originally had planned for Claire to shrink herself with the Fergolator and go through the fetch to help rescue Jim from the Darklands— but the cost would have been too much to make rigs that would only be used in 12 minutes of an episode.

@TobyDom97 I believe we were about halfway through writing Trollhunters when the possibility of making it a trilogy of shows and a movie began to surface as a possibility. We started working in clues that became more explicit as the series came closer to the finale.

@Darkfearik_NW I can’t speak for every production, but for an episode of TV to go from script to completely mixed and locked, it often takes the better part of a year through various steps and approvals. Then magnify that by multiple episodes in a “waterfall” schedule of many going at once.

@beefbastarddd Typically, when jobs open up on any show I’m working on, they are posted on the company message boards. I’d keep an eye out there for any new opportunities — as well as word of mouth through your school, mentors, colleagues, etc.

@GoodAaron I’m currently studying as a 2d anim major! Would there ever be a time where I could apply to work on wings of fire or another one of your series?🥺

An interesting aspect of human nature and probability, now that prediction markets are so prevalent in news coverage…. If the odds of something are 20% and it happens anyway, it doesn’t make it “wrong.” It means it was a 1/5 chance and we got the 1. Otherwise it would be 0%.

Does anyone else have to write in order to think? Like if someone asks me for story ideas, or jokes, I can’t just sit and think. I have to type and watch the ideas come out on the page, and I’m like “damn that’s a good idea, who thought of that?”
