Looking for a new series to watch after all the Stargate's and I told the family the 1978 Battlestar Galactica was good. They didn't last half way through the first episode before declaring NOPE. Mrs EEVblog said it's cardboard acting, no excitement, no emotion. Harsh.

The dumbest thing about all this is that once you liquidate Bezos’s wealth (which mostly exists on paper as Amazon shares that he can’t sell without crashing the price), you still have not solved poverty. You would just fund like 2% of US pension spending for 12 months. The next year you have to make up the shortfall
Bernie Sanders@BernieSanders

Mr. Bezos: Let's have that debate. Under my 5% billionaires wealth tax, we'd: -Give $12K to a working family of 4 -Expand Medicare for dental, vision, hearing -Guarantee universal childcare -Raise starting teacher pay to $60K And you'd still be worth $269 billion after taxes.

@rcbregman @gabriel_zucman Why is per-capita government spending endlessly increasing? Why were people 50 years ago more capable of taking care of themselves?

Nah dude. You, and other billionaires, are a huge negative on society Increasing economic inequality in the industrialized world has decreased quality of life, birth rates, and life expectancy. It has decimated our political system, weakened science, and ravaged the environment

Jeff Bezos: "If I do my job right, the value to society and civilization from my for-profit companies will be much, much larger than the good that I do with my charitable giving."

@larsencc Having children is a sacrifice, and is a burden. Sacrifice and burden aren't bad. Live a meaningful life, not a hedonistic life

I think that 35 hours work a week should not only pay the rent and put food on the table, but leave you enough over for the odd night out and an annual holiday. And if that belief makes me an economically illiterate leftwing extremist, so be it.

Unpopular opinion: I don't care Canada is grounding the snowbirds. I understand people see them as an important part of our Canadian identity but they are just entertainment. We have more important things to spend money on, specifically our actual military. They aren't being grounded forever. This is just temporary as the planes are no longer safe. I want our pilots safe rather than them risking their lives for entertainment purposes in out of date planes. Sorry but this is just first world problems.

An American filmed what his local Krispy Kreme does with unsold donuts. Straight into the trash. After private equity took over, the price of a dozen climbed to $22. And instead of selling them at a discount… They’d rather WASTE the food than lower the profit margin.

Growing up, my dad told us stories about saving up for college, which he admirably paid for himself working as a caddy, dock boy at a marina, groundskeeper. Had some great times. He also had a $2000 tuition bill for Columbia University It's $90,000 now

Every aspect of this debate is making me want to hurl myself off a cliff. No, you do not need to eat PB&J and chips for lunch every single day to save money. There is in fact an enormous universe of food that is simple to prepare, healthier than DoorDash, and way more affordable than DoorDash.

Yes. The real welfare queen in America is Jeff Bezos, worth $279 billion, who pays wages so low his workers rely on food stamps & Medicaid while he sailed on his $500 million yacht to his $55 million wedding to give his wife a $5 million ring because his tax rate is less than 1%.
More Perfect Union@MorePerfectUS

Bezos: "We have way too much corporate welfare, way too much corporate subsidies. There's way too much influence in politics from business, in some cases, wealthy people who really focus on that, unions. There's a bunch of people interfering in the political process." Amazon has received $15 billion in government subsidies since the year 2000 and paid 1.4% in federal taxes for 2025.

Very ominous. Rice production - on which a billion people depend - is increasingly endangered as the world heats up at 5000 times the rate at which the staple crop can evolve. livescience.com/planet-earth/g…
