Katie is 8. She was vacationing with her family in North Carolina when she spotted a turtle caught in a fishing line. She called a local NGO, who rescued it. It turned out it was a Kemp’s ridley sea turtle — the world’s smallest and most endangered. The turtle is alive today thanks to Katie.

The Greek island of Syros is home to approximately 3,000 stray cats. Welfare orgaizations have been looking after them since the 90s. An organization called Syros Cats took it one step further. They'll give you free housing if you volunteer to look after them. Here's how.
