@GlasgowPam "Disabled ple do not have choices. They live in fear worrying about what new limit will be put on them. We can't risk making death the only choice they ever have. If this bill passes it will be easier for disabled people to get support to die than to live." #VoteNo

If MSPs are so concerned about people living in 'pain, suffering, loss of dignity & choice' why not do something to prevent & address the pain, suffering, loss of dignity & choice disabled people experience every day? MSPs could do much more now by resourcing Independent Living!

Many GDA members tell us that they don’t feel they have a life of dignity, choice & control due to poverty, a lack of adequate social care & access to services & supports which enable this. We must first assist disabled people to live, before we legislate for #AssistedDying

GDA recognises that many people hold differing views on the principle of #AssistedDying. Regardless of people’s views on the principle of Assisted Dying, it is widely accepted by multiple professional bodies that this Bill is unsafe. This is why we’re urging MSP’s to VOTE NO

On how the language of 'dignity', 'autonomy', and 'choice' hides how society-changing assisted dying would be - for the worse. Ahead of tomorrow's vote in Scotland, here's my piece firmly against. ⬇️ scotsman.com/news/opinion/c…

Powerful statement to the Holyrood committee on the Assisted Dying Bill from Tressa Burke, founding CEO of Glasgow Disability Alliance: “[I am] absolutely terrified. And I say that as somebody who was diagnosed with MS 35 years ago... “I thought that assisted dying would be the last absolute self-determination, the greatest exercise of autonomy and choice, and give you that control at that end-of-life stage. “Having now worked with disabled people for 30 years, I am terrified at the thought of it.”

I wanted to acknowledge that my views on the Assisted Dying Bill have been shaped by the more than 3,000 constituents, charities and organisations who have contacted me and expressed concern that the bill is too wide in scope and that the potential for coercion is prevalent whether that be intentional or not.
