Q: Sir, did you ever have punugulu in Vijayawada? #Prabhas: (Everyone laughs) Yes, of course. I absolutely love Vijayawada punugulu. There used to be a small punugulu bandi near my cousin Pramod’s house. During summer holidays, Pramod and I were inseparable best friends and cousins. His father used to take us on his Vespa at full speed I would sit in the front, and Pramod at the back and he’d take us straight to that punugulu shop. That feeling was something else… I still remember it so clearly. Even now, whenever I travel towards Vijayawada, I think, “Can we stop and have punugulu?” But most of the time I travel at night, so I miss it. They were small, crispy, served with chutney just thinking about it makes my mouth water, Even the bajjis were amazing, but punugulu… that’s an emotion. I feel every village has one special food that you can never recreate anywhere else. Those Vijayawada punugulu I’ve never tasted anything like them again in my life. Just talking about it now… I’m craving them.
