if john lennon didn’t die and they got back together in the 80s or 90s the reunion album would probably have been one of the worst things ever tbh

@undercoverNBA I mean, Spurs are down to their last out. Daigneault pulled SGA from the floor, knowing the deal. The Plumlee one looked like a message. Biyombo not so much. Lesson for McCain there. There's a guy who clearly never played hockey. Head on a swivel, kid.

There is no way to investigate it and there’s no way to prove it from a league standpoint but anyone with above a room temp IQ knows exactly what happened last night. You guys spin every narrative you possibly can to make the Thunder the villains when we have clear villains right here. Wemby plays the “cool, calm, and collected Shaolin monk” character when he’s winning, but we’ve seen him throw an elbow at a player’s neck and put a hit on another Thunder player the moment he’s not getting what he wants. Wemby is a dirty player who flops and foul baits like any other star, and putting him as the face of “ethical basketball” is laughable and disingenuous
SM Highlights@SMHighlights1

Victor Wembanyama whispered something to both Mason Plumlee and Bismack Biyambo before they checked in. Plumlee threw a hard elbow at McCain, and Bismack fouled McCain hard on a drive. No correlation though… right?

@Howard__24 Not bad, but with this development flooding the market with this volume of new rentals this summer, prices elsewhere in the city are likely to see a further drop 👌 And most people need a parking space.

@LadyDemosthenes They no longer teach touch typing in our schools: just send them a website to practice with on their own. They no longer provide dictionaries: just send them a website to consult on their own. They rarely send them home with textbooks to read, either: just some handouts on Teams.

This is 100% true. I went from being able to give simple instructions: Save your file under an appropriate title and then upload a copy to class. To now having to tell students HOW to save a file, that they need to rename it (unnamed document is not acceptable), how to FIND the saved file on their devices, and how to upload the file onto the online course. All of this is assuming they realize they have access to Word through their school emails. If they don’t know this I have to give instructions on how to find Word first. If they are using Google Docs I have to explain first that if they have a Gmail they have free access to Google Docs, then I have to explain how to export as a .DOCX file and then go through the motions about saving and uploading… Don’t get me started on trying to explain where to find the TAB key and how to indent at the beginning of each paragraph.
Feral Heather@FeralHeather

90% of students don’t even know how to open or save a Word document when they come to my class, let alone format text. “Digital native” generation is tech illiterate & Grandma Luddite Heather must teach them the ancient ways

@greenarb1 @rsgnl The stingy businesses should be required to post large signs at the drive-thru, on the wall, on the menu: "We Pay Our Staff Less Than Minimum Wage." Then we can have the informed option to boycott them. Or tip if we so choose.

@rsgnl Choosing to tip is for venues where workers are on $2ph. Not coffee shops. Nobody should be tipping baristas on $15ph. The point of the tipping wage of $2ph (restaurant workers) is that the tip brings them to min wage.

I’ve decided that I’m done tipping on counter service. So tired of hitting $2 here or $4 there on Square/Clover screens. Adds up to be such a huge waste of money just to avoid social anxiety. Life is already expensive enough!

Nothing will surprise you when you accept that we have entered a post-literate age. The expectation that the average person be capable of intellectual curiosity, capable of reflection of any depth, is ahistorical. We are dragging ourselves back to the primitive era of orality, where emotionalism dissolves mind and spreads shallowness. We are returning to the historical norm where the privacy and depth created by the written word is maintained by a separate caste of people who inhabit the past, present and future, surrounded by people who can only conceive of an incoherent present.
