267 years ago today. Thomas Telford, the civil engineer whose works transformed Scotland and had a huge impact elsewhere, was born near Westerkirk in Dumfries-shire on 9 August 1757. This is his bridge at Craigellachie in Moray. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/usbiography/t/…

#OnThisDay in 1968 the final section of the #M74 Hamilton Bypass was opened. It extended the motorway northwards and was built by Tarmac Construction. The project included construction of the distinctive and award winning Maryville Interchange seen here in 1969. #Archives
