Productive morning for our volunteers, working with City of Doncaster Council staff to plant 220 saplings on the south (Warmsworth) bank of the River Don, first step to creating a wet woodland that should take shape over the next five years. More on this project to follow.

Well, a very blustery day for our volunteers today. We tackled the path from the top of the bends that leads towards Warmsworth. Overhanging vegetation cut back and a general tidy up including a bit of litter picking. Also moved two dumped mattresses to enable collection by DMBC.

A really good outing today for our volunteers. Joined by 10 BT/EE employees on a volunteer experience day. They were a great enthusiastic group. Three areas worked on, the plantation, completing woven fence to first bird hide and clearing the beaches down from the weir of litter.

Another busy day for our volunteers. Started work on a new woven fence to the first bird hide. We also helped YWT who are working on the bird hide by installing a new section of fencing that required upgrading. Also litter picked the area around the bird hides and the S bends.

While Mill Lane was closed to traffic today we took the opportunity to do a thorough litter pick - it’s normally too dangerous to clear that area. Seven bags of rubbish cleared along a relatively short stretch. We were joined by guys from @MyDoncaster. Good, satisfying result👍

Thanks to Lynne, Peter, Graham, Nick, Alan and Paul. Who gave up their time today to collect litter from Nursery Lane and Mill Lane. Seventeen bags collected together with other dumped items including 10 suitcases. Such a shame a lovely location is treated as a dump it site.
