My point isn’t about party allegiance or experimenting with the population. Most policies are, by nature, experiments - the goal is to test what works and adapt based on evidence. Learning from best practices elsewhere - like pedagogy, teacher training and EdTech - can help Sri Lanka improve outcomes responsibly.
Critique of policy should focus on outcomes and implementation, not assumptions alone. What matters is the substance: policies, outcomes and evidence - not whether someone identifies as pro or anti a party. That’s just division. Given your academic background, this shouldn’t be a new perspective.
The point of this post is high literacy ≠ a strong education system. I’ve addressed that, factually.

You’re shifting the goalpost here. Your original post was sarcastic about Sri Lanka partnering with India for teacher training, implying that higher literacy = stronger education system. But as you’ve later on said it yourself, literacy only shows the lower limit of development - which means that comparison doesn’t hold. It contradicts your own sarcasm. My point remains the same: literacy alone doesn’t define the strength of an education system.

High literacy ≠ strong education system.
A high literacy rate simply means most people can read and write at a basic level. While it’s an important foundation, it doesn’t tell us much about what people are learning, how they are learning or how well they can apply that knowledge.
Literacy is access.
Education quality is outcome.
Sri Lanka is ahead of the literacy race yes, but India is catching up fast - and also investing more heavily in quality and innovation.
Sri Lanka’s challenge (and must do) is to modernize its education system without losing equity.
India’s challenge is to extend its innovation and quality to every child.

@gayaradesilva A high literacy doesn't guarantee a high level of education. Sometimes, even having top qualifications doesn't ensure that he or she will be able to make critical & practical decisions. We see plenty of examples here on this platform itself
