The Day We Met: Chapter 4, Page 50 (and epilogue)

My best friend is dead. This best friend I met through Destiny, right before Destiny 2 came out. This best friend introduced me to more great friends. As this friend was dying, I turned to this game to do anything I could, and the community came out in droves. My dad bought me Destiny 1 in September of 2014 because he didn't want me playing Advanced Warfare. (It had blood.) i only made 2 friends in Destiny 1, but I was really close with both of them. I only started playing Destiny beyond a casual level in Shadowkeep. I started raiding more and getting into LFGs, and eventually met Memoy. Memory is the person responsible for all of my achievements in destiny. they asked me to be on their Deep Stone Crypt Day 1 team. Clearing that raid made me want more. I started being more active in the D2 Twitter scene, and that's how I've met all of you. I've spent so much time in the game over the last 5 years and even more on Twitter talking about it. In that time, I've made some of the best friends I could possibly imagine. Getting added to the ratio reborn v2 group chat (iykyk) and meeting wingmeals, mj, luke, crimsn, and so many more made my time in this community so much brighter. This game is nothing without the friends you make playing it, and im so glad i got to be a part of all of your lives, even if it was just in a small way. I hope you all think of me when you see Shibas, that would mean the world to me. Thank you for everything. 🩵

With the announcement that Destiny 2's development is ceasing I think it's important to reiterate that the original Destiny is still very much at risk at being lost forever much like Destiny 2's base game and early expansions. I can only hope Destiny receives an offline update of some form officially so the game can be preserved forever without dedicated fans having to reverse-engineer the servers themselves (which is still very work-in-progress IIRC). The first Destiny is the only Destiny game that is a complete experience form start to finish with proper progression, no removed content and a coherent art direction, it needs to be preserved. #StopKillingGames
