The population-wide mutation rate characterizes genetic pattern of adaptation. The number of segregating sites is an indicator of the pattern of adaptation.

We derived accurate and tractable time-dependent results at the genetic and phenotypic level. We have explicit approximations for the initial phase of polygenic adaptation. We refined classical, quantitative genetics results for the (quasi-)stationary phase.
