Veteran gynaecologist and Nairobi Hospital director Dr Job Obwaka dies at 83 at a hospital in Nairobi, family confirms, weeks after his dramatic arrest over alleged falsified records.
Eric Okeyo, Member Board of Management, The Nairobi Hospital: The problem in Nairobi Hospital is that senior consultants, Martin Wanyoike, David Silverstein, and their clique. They run mini-hospitals in the name of clinics. If you go to Dr. Wanyoike’s clinic, it is a hospital that does procedures that the Nairobi Hospital does. Martin Wanyoike is already conflicted, and as a result of this, they now want to have an overriding charge over the board. There exists a resolution by the board to inspect into possible conflicts of interest by senior consultants, these two (Martin and David) included. One of these two senior consultants between January and March has been paid 40 million shillings. The patron of this hospital has traditionally been the president #CitizenExplainer
President Ruto to Nigerians: I was misquoted. All of us in Africa speak good English. In fact, in countries like Nigeria, if you don’t speak excellent English like the one we speak in Kenya, you may need a translator.
@JaneFKyalo@GovernorsWatch1 Wachana na Olkalau think of Kitui. Somali who have been brought and embrace by the person you support they are killing your people in the name of they got power
@DrRoselynAkombe We will give our best. We need a voter registration centre in Jua Kali areas where most young men & women work 7 days a week without a rest.
@AnyangNyongo Thank you Prof. You have made us proud. You have made Kisumu the City it ought to be. My biggest worry is your the Next Governor. We will get a populist who will ruin your legacy
When we championed the revival of Winam Port in Kisumu through collaboration between the County and National Governments, some chose doubt over vision, calling it “too much planning.” Yet as I have always maintained: failing to plan is planning to fail.
Today, the results speak for themselves. From our revitalized port, MV Uhuru I and MV Uhuru II sail weekly to Uganda and Tanzania, carrying tonnes of cargo, steel, sugar, cement, tiles, fuel and grain. This is more than movement of goods; it is the steady pulse of economic renewal.
Our youth are and will be deeply involved at the heart of this transformation, driving manufacturing, packaging, and transportation across Kisumu and beyond. Through these efforts, livelihoods are and will be rising and dignity will be restored.
Kisumu is reclaiming its rightful place as a strategic gateway, linking the region, expanding trade, and opening doors of opportunity for a generation that chooses to build rather than wait.
As a devolved unit, the County Government of Kisumu remains steadfast in fulfilling its constitutional mandate to deliver meaningful, people-centered development. The Kisumu Lakefront Development Corporation is our vehicle for transformation. The pace may seem measured, but the trajectory is clear and the destination assured.
Watch this space, or better yet, roll up your sleeves and be part of the transformation. #TichTire
