The notion of a ‘genius’ is toxic because it suggests that we either have it or we don’t. Dedicated long-term effort is what’s required to develop an intuition for a problem. The so-called genius might make it look effortless but you can be sure it was hard work.

@ItaiYanai There are a lot of child prodigies in mathematics, physics, IT, and virtually none (that I know of) in life sciences. Does creativity in life science come out of expertise ? I always keep wondering about this.
