@misslisajo @CityofdanceKH @HyndlandSec All three performances were superb. So much hard work from all performers and so happy to see many former pupils amongst the groups. But I have to say the Romeo and Juliet dance was one of the best I've ever seen on any stage. Simply beautiful. Well done to you all

Malawi - Leadership Skills (Through Sport) Schools Programme - Week 90 🇲🇼❤️ Hello everyone! We are now into Week 90 of being in Malawi where we have been very busy this past week implementing Leadership Skills training for teachers in the Machinga District. This was Phase 5/5 of our Leadership Skills (through sport) Programme in Malawi which took us 75 miles north to the town of Liwonde. This was Phase 2/2 of our Leadership Skills Programme in the Machinga District where we delivered teacher training to 32 teachers from 14 government rural primary schools across 2 Zones. The training took place at Nkasaulo Teacher Development Centre (TDC) from the 17th - 21st March. 8 new schools and 6 current schools were represented at the teacher training. The Teachers received Leadership Skills (through sport) Tutor Training over the course of the week. The training is designed to show Teachers how they can teach Leadership Skills (through sport) to a group of chosen 20 Sports Leaders in their school over a 12 week period, on a week to week basis. The Sports Leaders will learn about key Leadership and Life Skills such as Communication, Organisation, Working together as part of a team, Decision Making and Problem Solving. On the final day of the training, we had a celebration function to recognise the achievements of the teachers and to present all the sports equipment and other resources to each of the 14 schools. We were honoured to be joined by all of the following people at the function: 1. Roderick Mateyauma - District Commissioner for Machinga. 2. Nelly Kamtedza - Director of Education, Youth & Sport for Machinga. 3. Joseph Sambani - Coordinating Primary Education Advisor (CPEA) for Machinga. 4. Lovemore Nayuchi - Primary Education Advisor (PEA) for Nkasaulo Zone. 5. Dan Kapito - Projects Officer for Machinga. 6. Dickens Nkumbira - Education Sports Officer for Machinga. 7. 10 Head Teachers & 4 Deputy Head Teachers from Nkasaulo & St Teresa Zones. 8. 32 Sports Teachers. We showed a 15 minute compilation video of the week’s training and presented each school with a large sack of sports equipment and materials for the programme. Each school received the following: - Leadership Journals & Certificates - 12 Week Training Planner - Activities Pack - 20 drawstring bags - 20 Whistles - Large Sports Sack - 20 Sports Leader T-Shirts - Sports Teacher T-Shirt - 35 Cones - Parachute - Bibs - Football - Netball - Rugby Ball - 10 Tennis Balls We presented certificates to all 32 Sports Teachers along with the Projects Officer & Education Sports Officer. The Machinga District Commissioner and Director of Education, Youth & Sport were both so impressed and appreciative of the Leadership Skills Programme being delivered in the Machinga District which they conveyed in their very passionate speeches. They both reiterated their full support and commitment to the government schools programme. It’s been the most incredible week. The training has been a huge success. The teachers were fantastic and really embraced the Leadership Skills training. They were so motivated and enthusiastic and we couldn’t have asked for any more from them. This enthusiasm and enjoyment was never more evident during the last session on the Friday when the teachers delivered various activities to 100 standard 5 pupils (9 year olds). This was a fantastic session and I would go as far to say that it was probably the best Leadership Skills based session that I have ever seen! It was just incredible! 🙌👏 The 12 week Leadership Skills programme in Machinga will commence week beginning 28th April, which will see 280 standard 6 learners (10-12 years old) being trained as Sports Leaders in the 14 schools. By the end of this phase, over 7,500 children in Machinga will have engaged in activities delivered by the Sports Leaders. That’s all for now! Zikomo Fraser 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❤️🇲🇼

At least 90% of the things I say are generally incoherent rubbish. But every word on this is true. The Active Schools team have given so much to the children of Glasgow and are a genuine credit to the city. Hopefully I'll be asked to comment in another 20 years #happy20thbirthday

Local journalism never as important than when you hear the out of touch nonsense spouted on @BBCSportsound about Simo Valakari. Zero attempt to actually try and understand the feeling amongst a support absolutely worn down by years of attrition. @C_ENicolson @SeanHamSport

This is the brutal reality of life for women under the Islamic Republic in Iran. A woman in Tehran sent me this photo of her scarred back, flogged for the “crime” of showing her hair. Yet, she refuses to be silenced. Holding a Woman, Life, Freedom slogan, she took this photo as a powerful act of defiance, declaring: “The morality police arrested me for resisting their van. My ‘crime’ was unveiling. After months of court hearings, I was sentenced to 74 lashes. The cleric overseeing the punishment stood there to ensure it was carried out. I won’t give up my fight against this brutal regime, but we are fed up with living as prisoners in our own homeland.” Her scars tell the story of oppression, but her courage speaks of a revolution. This is a barbaric law, this is terrorism. How is this different from ISIS?
