@guardian I don't understand why the BBC selection for Andrew Marr's replacement wasn't made before he left. If, say, one of these two had been offered the Sunday morning slot I doubt they'd be leaving!

@RichardGCorbett@BBC I think you need to research the individual reasons before linking all these names. Some would have left for more money (e.g. Stephanie Flanders?), some simply retired (e.g. Mark Mardell?)

@williamnhutton The BBC is crucially important, not least for being ad-free! But if it's forced to make cuts, do we need the BBC news channel? We have Sky News and can watch top BBC news and current affairs programmes like Newsnight, Question Time and Panorama any time on iPlayer.
To attempt to save Johnson the plan is to freeze the BBC licence fee until 2027, the precursor to ending public service broadcasting.”Partygate”morphs into vandalising a loved and valued broadcasting culture. It is both wrong and a vote loser. A party that has lost its bearings.
An absolute flipping disaster for Sheffield. My heart goes out to all the staff there. What will be left to return to in our city centre when this is all over?😭

Lord David Frost is not “tough” in his negotiating style as described in almost all media outlets.Who doesn’t want to be tough defending the UK’s interests?Tough is a good word.Rather he is toxically,self-defeatingly & unreasonably abrasive. I’d love one word to capture it.Ideas?
This is a view rarely seen but it shows just how much #Sheffield city centre has changed. The old 'new' fire station was only just being built. Must have been a warmer January than now but any guesses on the year? #sheffieldissuper
Had to do a double take on this fleeting snapshot in #Sheffield time. It had me very confused but presumably it's the Hole in the Road post hole but pre Supertram. Anyone remember it actually looking like this?
