Timothy Dudley-Smith who has died aged 97 is fondly remembered as Bishop of Thetford 1981-92 in @DioceseNorwich & as a writer of 400+ hymns including Tell Out My Soul. May he now fully know “the greatness of the Lord”.

Wonderful bishop and superb hymn writer. RIP, Timothy Dudley-Smith.

#OnThisDay in 1093 the foundation stone of ⁦@durhamcathedral⁩ was laid by Bishop William of St-Calais with Prior Turgot, having refounded the original Saxon Cathedral as a Benedictine Priory a decade earlier. It was to become perhaps Europe’s greatest Romanesque church.
