It would be extraordinary if they won fewer than the Liberals even though they outpolled them, but if the tactical voting we've seen in the Teals seats, and around the world - see Canada and UK last election - then that could well be the case because the people who don't want the Liberal Party to win, want One Nation to win even less.

I've posted an SA2026 election preview on my personal blog. To avoid X strangling this tweet, I won't include a link but suggest you search for the preview on my blog. #savotes

@adamnicotera Why did they cut her off at the end? What was she really shaking her head at? Why be dishonest when you're winning by such a huge margin?

The bare numbers suggest One Nation will beat the Liberal Party in South Australia, and they might, but don't discount Labor's preference deal to keep them out. Many of those seats will have Labor running behind the Liberal Party and Labor preferences will ensure that One Nation is defeated, while many Labor voters may also vote strategically and vote Liberal first.
English

@SkyNewsAust Labor would have won irrespective of whether One Nation was on the ballot or not. I suspect the informal vote is the loser out of this and will be smaller than it would have been.
English

One Nation is set to annihilate the Liberal Party in South Australia and hand Labor a victory in the state election, the latest polling has revealed.

@AusPoll6 Not a serious distribution. Katter is not going to lose to One Nation, and neither are 5 independents.

@RogerPielkeJr It just repeats his almost perfect record for being wrong. That's not science, that's publishing.

This is definitely a "no brainer" as in, if you had brains you would not do it. They want to double capital gains tax because the government would have more money, so why not double GST, income tax, payroll tax, petrol excise etc? There's plenty of taxes where you could charge more.
Australia Institute@TheAusInstitute
Australia Institute research shows the government would raise an extra $19 billion a year by scrapping the capital gains tax discount. Not only would it improve housing affordability, there'd be $19 billion more to spend on services. It's a no-brainer. @MattGrudnoff #auspol

@honeymoon250 No, I never recorded from the radio. No Walkman either.

@catskipants @DavidPocock How do you get more home owners by making it harder for renters to save?
English

@GrahamY @DavidPocock Renters are being priced out of the market. There should be fewer renters that's the whole point. More homeowners less renters.
English

I've been pushing for the capital gains tax discount to be reduced to 25% & tied to new homes only.
This will help incentivise new supply which has flow-on benefits for ppl renting & makes it easier for first homebuyers.
We should also cap negative gearing to 1 property & reinvest revenue not foregone in new social & affordable homes.
These measures won't solve affordability on their own but will help, and they send a signal that 🇦🇺 wants housing to be accessible and affordable, not primarily an asset class for wealth creation.

@inabsentia8 @hoyzen @MikeKellyofEM So what? Cherrypicking a couple of qualifications doesn't delegitimise the reports findings but calls into question your motives.

I am reluctant to engage in some sort of pile on of you Grace Tame but I simply offer this response to your opinion that the sexual violence perpetrated by Hamas on 7 October was “debunked”. I will counter whatever information you are relying on by referring you to the official report of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General on Sexual Violence in Conflict, Ms Pramila Patten.
She actually travelled to Israel to carefully investigate these matters. She viewed 5,000 photographic images and some 50 hours of footage of the attacks. She stated in her findings that: “What I witnessed in Israel were scenes of unspeakable violence perpetrated with shocking brutality,..It was a catalogue of the most extreme and inhumane forms of killing, torture and other horrors…including sexual violence.”
Since then we have the detailed Dinah Report which you can read here thedinahproject.org/wp-content/upl…. All this led to the UN including Hamas on the U.N. “blacklist” of organizations “being responsible for patterns of rape or other forms of sexual violence in situations of armed conflict” on 14 August 2025.
There are also many video testimonies of survivors you can check out if you are interested. Enough evidence for you to “believe her”.

@SandraEckersley @cocoajunction You don't think productivity decreasing by two-thirds might also be a factor, particularly as a cause of labour shortages? If your workforce is only working a third of what they used to you need three times as many workers to get the work done.
English

@GrahamY @cocoajunction QLD construction costs have surged by over 32% since 2020 due to "perfect storm" of high demand, severe labour shortages & soaring material prices. Factors include supply chain disruptions, post-pandemic demand spikes, natural disasters & massive pipeline of public infrastructure
English

@SandraEckersley @cocoajunction I was a full-time developer for 20 years. Tell me your qualifications.
English

@GrahamY @cocoajunction Ever been to a building site? You sound like you never have.
English

@SandraEckersley @cocoajunction The proof is in their productivity. Construction workers produce half today what they did 25 years ago and only a third of what they did 14 years ago. Not just bludgers, but lazy bludgers.

English

@GrahamY @cocoajunction So you think 144,000 construction ‘workers’ represented by their Union, the CFMEU, are just ‘bludgers’?
English

@SandraEckersley @cocoajunction "Workers" is one way of describing them. Building projects are lucky to get 3 days worth of work out of them a week. Bludgers who are pushing up the price of all construction including housing. One of the reasons our productivity is going backwards.
English

@GrahamY @cocoajunction The CFMEU represents 144,000 working Australians. 1% of workers. Corrupt management doesn’t negate worker representation.
English

@SandraEckersley @cocoajunction Albo accepted their donations for years, and closed down the ABCC which regularly uncovered their lawlessness and got convictions. So yeah, sure. The Australian Labor Party is hopelessly corrupt.
English

@cocoajunction Albanese famously clashed with the CFMEU and Allen is running the inquiry that revealed their rorting. So there’s that.
English

You really don't know what you are talking about or you would say anything to advance your agenda, no matter how dishonest. "Sexual violence was widespread and systematic during the October 7 attack, occurring
across at least six different locations: the Nova music festival, Route 232, Nahal Oz
military base, and Kibbutzim Re'im, Nir Oz, and Kfar Aza." thedinahproject.org/wp-content/upl…
English

The biggest investigation by Israel found there was no medical, forensic, photographic or digital evidence of sexual violence committed by Hamas on 7 October 2023.
Therefore, claims of "well documented sexual violence on October 7" are debunked propaganda, Kev. Suck it up.
Kevin Carrico@kevincarrico
What is it about Israel that breaks people’s brains? Grace Tame is an advocate for survivors of sexual assault. There is no reason for her to dismiss well documented sexual violence on October 7 as “debunked” “propaganda.” There is no need for her to “globalize the intifada.”
