Trump’s new budget adds an extra $500 billion to fund wars abroad — about $3,700 more for every household in America — while cutting health, jobs, housing, and education. Put simply, it takes more of your money for foreign wars, while making life in America even more unaffordable.

1/2 FLUENCY FRIDAY! Here’s a peanut butter poem by the great Kenn Nesbitt ( poetry4kids.com ) for students to practice (rehearse) & perform fluently! Rehearsing (authentic repeated reading) & performing poetry is an excellent way to build reading fluency (SOR).

love this. idioms are one of those things that separate kids who can decode from kids who actually understand what they're reading. you can sound out every word in "it's raining cats and dogs" and still have no idea what someone means. word ladders make this playful instead of intimidating. great way to close out March.

If you are interested in using word ladders to explore idioms and figurative language (and also work on vocabulary & word decoding) with students, please check out my “Daily WL: Idioms” book with Melissa Cheesman Smith. You can find it on Amazon or at shop.scholastic.com/teachers-ecomm… .
