This interview with $AVGO CEO Hock Tan has some interesting insights. Broadcom is dominating the custom AI chip market. Hock Tan is a disciplined capital allocator. He refuses to chase hype and only builds when he has hard, production-scale purchase orders in hand. Right now, Broadcom is building custom silicon for 7 major foundation model creators, and four of them are already dropping massive purchase orders at scale. The biggest takeaway from this interview is Tan’s view on the power grid bottleneck. The broader market is panicking over the need for massive 1-gigawatt or 2-gigawatt power sites. Tan points out that AI inference workloads do not need that. You can easily distribute inference across smaller 50 to 200 megawatt sites that are widely available on the grid right now. This completely bypasses the immediate energy crunch. Meanwhile, VMware is operating as a massive free cash flow machine to fund all this growth without hurting the balance sheet. AVGO is combining custom accelerators, networking clusters, and software stacks to maximize performance per dollar. Tan says generative AI will eventually add $10T to global GDP. That makes today's massive infrastructure capex look incredibly cheap.

Did Vance think he was going to solve decades of disputes with Iran in 1 day? He spent 5 days in Feb hanging out at the Winter Olympics. Iran got highest level negotiations with America ever and still controls the Strait of Hormuz, while Vance appears to be giving up. Diplomacy takes enormous planning, technical expertise, and persistent engagement, especially in war time. Our servicemembers in harm's way and Americans struggling with gas prices deserve serious negotiations, not the performance we just saw.

JD Vance: "The bad news is that we have not reached an agreement. And I think that's bad news for Iran much more than it's bad news for the US. So, we go back to the US having not come to an agreement ... they have chosen not to accept our terms"

BARTIROMO: Do you believe the price of oil and gas will be lower before the midterm elections? TRUMP: I hope so. I mean, I think so. It could be the same or maybe a little big higher (Check out Maria's face as he says this!)

Doing some customer modeling on TSMC and this stat stands out: In 2023, TSMC had one customer (Apple) above $10 billion in annual revenue. By 2027E, it is projected to have four, including Apple, all above $20 billion.

As I have repeatedly written on Twitter (in recent months)... the problem @SquawkCNBC viewers should have with Joe Kernen is not his politics (as that is his own business) - it is his lack of preparation (which causes him to remain off (business) topic and to default to political dogma). The general quality of his journalism has been beneath the standard that exists on @cnbc for decades.
Nerdy Pursuit 🐉@nerdypursuit

Andrew Sorkin chimes in, "Yeah, Pete's math is right." And Joe Kernen just can't accept it. As Kernen keeps yelling and yelling, you can see Sorkin laughing in the background. 😂
