Feedback from the #Maize Working Group session highlighted producers’ concerns about production levels and how producers can be supported. The need for greater transparency around input costs was also raised, as well as how Grain SA can contribute to this regard. #GSAkongres26 #GSAcongress26 #GrainSA #GrainSA

During the #Sunflower working session, genetic progress in sunflower production and the challenge of Sclerotinia were discussed. Delegates heard perspectives from both producers and researchers in the industry. #GSAkongres26 #GSAcongress26 #GrainSA

#Sorghum working session: The shoot bug challenge was discussed, along with the Sorghum Cluster and its initiatives. Concerns were also raised about sorghum imports and the impact on the local market, with producers aiming to maintain better profit margins. #GSAkongres26 #GSAcongress26 #GrainSA

During the #soybean breakaway session, concerns were raised about the soybean contract size increasing from 50 tons to 100 tons, with calls for it to be reconsidered. Import and export clearances were also discussed, and the ARC shared feedback on soybean trials. During the #groundnut working session, Nematodes remain a challenge for producers. No major price changes are expected at this stage. Work is ongoing around import tariffs to ensure measures are in place for producers.
