As a former waitress who knows what it's like to rely on tips, I know how hard our servers work and believe they deserve to be well-compensated for all they do. I will be joining servers, bartenders, and small business owners to vote No on 5.
Committee to Protect Tips@protecttips

Thank you Governor Healey for listening to the servers, bartenders and neighborhood restaurants asking everyone to VOTE NO ON 5! #mapoli

Protect Local Restaurants – Vote NO on Question #5 As the November election draws near, we want to address an issue that could drastically change the restaurant experience for both guests and staff.   Ballot Question #5, while appearing to support workers, could lead to serious challenges for the restaurant industry in Massachusetts—affecting not only employees but also our cherished guests. If passed, this measure will eliminate tip credits by 2029, meaning that all employees will be required to earn the full state minimum wage before tips. This may sound positive, but here’s the reality: •Massive increases in menu prices: Many restaurants will need to raise prices by 50-100% just to cover the higher wage costs. •Fewer jobs and reduced hours: Restaurants with already tight margins will likely have to reduce staff, cut hours, or in some cases, even close. •Lower wages for many: Ironically, this measure could lead to **lower take-home pay** for servers, as higher base wages often result in smaller tips. We support fair pay and good working conditions.  @bignight employs over 1000 Massachusetts residents and has been honored to be named one of Boston’s Top Places to work 10 times by @bostonglobe.  BUT Question #5 threatens to do more harm than good to individual restaurant workers, independent restaurants, and the community. Increased costs will be passed onto guests, and many restaurants will not survive. Help us preserve the vibrant, diverse dining culture in Massachusetts. Vote NO on Question #5 in the upcoming election. Thank you for your support! #votenoon5
