J-16 air-to-air beast mode with 10 missiles (8 long range and 2 short range on.) Can increase the number to 14 missiles if Multiple Ejector Rack are used. The J-15T carrier based fighter has a similar carrying capacity, which means the Chinese carrier airwing has the capability to swat down incoming subsonic missiles, like the American LRASM with ease. No need to wait for these missiles to pop up from the radar horizon.

Another core mission for aircraft carriers, is to maintain pressure from the air after hypersonic missiles have kick the doors open. Missiles are expensive, hypersonic missiles even more so. They are only used against high value targets, air defense systems, airports etc. So, after paralyzing the enemy, you need a sustained precision munition delivery system to keep the enemy busy. Aircraft with cheap and effective precision bombs are the most cost effective way for those missions, especially when dealing with moving and pop up threats.
