EFFURUN SHOOTING: POLICE ASSURE JUSTICE AS OFFICER FACES DISCIPLINARY ACTION The Nigeria Police Force condemns the fatal shooting of a suspect, Mene Ogidi, which occurred on 26th April 2026 in Effurun, Delta State. Preliminary reports indicate that operatives attached to the Effurun Area Command responded to credible information from Benin Motor Park along the Warri–Sapele Expressway regarding a suspect apprehended by members of a transport union while attempting to waybill a parcel containing a Beretta pistol with four rounds of ammunition. While efforts were being made to take the suspect into lawful custody, the team leader, ASP Nuhu Usman, discharged his firearm in clear violation of extant regulations, resulting in the death of the suspect. The leadership of the Nigeria Police Force has directed the immediate transfer of the officer and his team to Force Headquarters, Abuja, where they would face the Force Disciplinary Committee for summary disciplinary measures and prosecution. The Inspector-General of Police extends his condolences to the family of the deceased and assures them that justice will be served in accordance with the law. He further urges members of the public to remain calm and law-abiding as the disciplinary and legal processes take their course. The Nigeria Police Force maintains a zero-tolerance stance on extra-judicial actions, abuse of authority, and any conduct that undermines public trust. You were young and stvpid because you still don't have sense. You would have left her and the child alone and focus on your abroad. You told her to terminate the pregnancy, you were never there during the cause of 9 months, the discomfort that comes with carrying a child and having the support of a good partner. Suddenly out of the blues you want your child, which child, the one you lost from the beginning. You don deserve the custody of the child.

"The lady is my baby's mom. Actually, we dated for 3 years when I was still in the country. She got pregnant for me about a month before I left for abroad Then, I was just a young man full of ambition & i didn't want a kid back then. so, I asked her to do away with it but then, she rejected my proposal even after pressuring her on several occasions, she said 'No" A actually, i had never planned on marrying her or have a baby with her. I was just age 24, still a very young man to start thinking of having a baby nor a family while still struggling. Any man in my shoes will understand this, Moreover, I had someone I was really in love & serious with, My baby's mom was angry & wouldn't talk to me after I disclosed this to her. I was just a young boy having fun like my mates. I actually didn't know she was taking our relationship that seriously. After she refused doing as i told, I left the country very angry with her & didn't talk to her for over a year. Then somehow, I found out she had my baby. I felt bad but also excited to see my child. I wanted to be in my son's life, so, I asked my parents to help me make things right with her family & they accepted my apology & allowed me into my baby's life Now, I'm sending money for my child's food & things. But my baby's mom here keeps asking for more money. I'm confused cuz she was never like this. She never bothered me for money in my humble beginnings when we were together; instead, she was very supportive. But now, I'm spending on a single baby like a man who is married with 5 children! Almost everyday is one complain to another needing financial assistance, I don't understand what's happening, but I've been so pissed off lately cuz I believe she's using my son to extort money from me. It's just 3 years gone but; she has added weight & looking so fresh & beautiful unlike the real her that i used to know. Obviously, it's cuz of the money I've been sending. i strongly believe she's been exploiting me all these time cuz she wasn't never looking like this before I left for the States,& she knows this. And as such, I've asked her to give my child to my parents, but she's insisting on keeping him, just so that she can be using my baby to steal from me. i talked to my parents & several meetings have been held on this particular issue, but she keeps being stubborn. Esther, I won't argue any further, but I want the world & my son to know, in case you try to feed him with the usual lies single mothers usually tell their child concerning their biological father. Just incase you go spreading rumors against me. I'm not a bad father & i want the world & especially my son to know in future that i tried to be in his life but your greed & st_born,nez has chased me away! I'll still be waiting, & I'm honestly giving you until this month end to reconsider and take my baby to my parents' home, and if you still don't, then fine!! Try me Esther!!! Just try me!!!"

Where Is Ademola Adeleke? Fear, Panic Grip Osun as Governor Goes Missing in Action By Opeyemi Wahab Panic is spreading across Osun State as Governor Ademola Adeleke @AAdeleke_01 is reportedly gripped by fear over what lies ahead after November 2026, when his tenure expires. Multiple insider accounts suggest the governor has become increasingly unsettled following security reports indicating that his re-election bid may suffer a major setback in the August 15 governorship election. The fear of defeat, sources say, has triggered frantic behind-the-scenes moves for political survival. Even more troubling are claims from political circles that the governor has been largely absent from the state for over a week, allegedly shuttling between locations in a desperate bid to secure political protection ahead of a possible loss at the polls. Recall that Ademola Adeleke has, at different times, attempted to find a soft landing within the All Progressives Congress (APC), believing that alignment with the ruling party at the national level could shield his political future and boost his re-election chances. The defection plan was said to have been stopped by President Bola Tinubu, sources claiming the presidency believed the governor and his elder brother, Dr Deji Adeleke, were too desperate to be allowed into APC. The insiders said the presidency could not trust the commitment of the Adelekes given their alleged past betrayal to President Tinubu and other political actors they had disappointed. On the renewed move of Adeleke to join APC after the August 15 gubernatorial election, which it is believed may not be favourable to him, the sources within the APC hierarchy indicate that such overtures have been firmly discountenanced, particularly by top-level stakeholders who reportedly view the move with suspicion. Insiders claim concerns were raised that it could complicate ongoing investigations by anti-graft agencies. There are reportedly mounting allegations and petitions before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) against the officials of Osun State government. These include claims relating to contract scam allegedly involving the governor's Chief of Staff, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, financial management issues, including UBEC funds, N12 billion ecological funds leveled against the state government by an Abuja-based human rights activist. A tax consulting firm, Sally Tibbot Consulting, has equally dragged the state government to EFCC over what it described as payroll fraud perpetrated by officials of the Osun State government. The company claims a yearly payroll fraud of N13 billion has been tolerated by the Adeleke administration since 2023, translating to over N40 billion to date. Politically, the situation within the governor’s camp appears to be deteriorating fast. Weeks after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) lifted the ban on official campaigns, the ruling party in Osun is yet to announce a Campaign Council—a development widely interpreted as a sign of deep internal crisis and lack of direction. In stark contrast, the APC has hit the ground running, appointing a seasoned politician Oluwole Oke as Campaign Director General. Oke, a five-term member of the House of Representatives who played a pivotal role in the emergence of Adeleke as governor in 2022, is already crisscrossing the state, mobilising support for the party’s candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), and consolidating grassroots structures. The Ijesa-born lawmaker, alongside Osun East senator, Senator Ade Fadahunsi and Osun Central counterpart, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi Ajagunla as well Hon. Taofeek Ajilesoro representing Ife Federal Constituency and Hon. Sanya Omirin ( Ijesa South), dumped the Adeleke camp in 2025 to pitch their tent with APC.
